Dark Sky compliant outdoor lighting in Canada

Bylaw-friendly bollards, downlights and path fixtures that won't put your project in the next Star-Watch report.

Dark Sky is not a certification you either have or don't. It is a set of measurable properties, and more Canadian municipalities are writing those properties into site-plan approval every year.

The four properties that matter

  • No uplight above 90°. Full cut-off, or the fixture fails regardless of everything else.

  • Colour temperature at or below 3000K. Many programs now specify 2700K for residential-adjacent sites.

  • Shielded source. The lamp must not be visible from the property line.

  • Controlled intensity. Usually expressed as a lumen cap per fixture, or a maximum illuminance at the property line.

What we stock for it

Bollards and path lights are the easy part — most modern full-cut-off bollards comply out of the box. The hard part is the wall pack and the downlight over a garage door, where the "shielded" requirement forces you down a size or into a different optic.

For projects inside a bylaw area, send us the site plan and the bylaw reference. We will mark up which fixtures in your schedule comply as specified and which need an accessory or a swap.
